Set meals/Izakaya|Hyotan

It may be the top of the ranking of shops that our family often visits. Cheap and filling. Wide selection. Because it is a tatami room, it is easy to spend time with children! The gourd set meal is recommended. 980 yen includes sashimi, grilled fish, 2 small bowls, rice, and miso soup. Both cream croquette and chicken nanban are delicious. It's a homely atmosphere that locals love.

Izakaya|Inagawa

A small shop with only a counter and two tables in the back. A woman runs it all by herself, and the obanzai of the day are lined up on the counter. Horse dishes such as horse mane and horse sashimi are also delicious. For the dashimaki tamago, you will be asked if you want it sweetened or salty, and you will be able to adjust the flavor to your liking. Even if you walk in alone, the regulars and the owner will talk to you, and you can enjoy interacting with them.

 ~ Cafe ~

Takeda: Over the past few years, many cozy cafes have opened in the castle town. Here are our favorites.

Cafe | La Pause

I wonder if this is the cafe we go to most often these days. A shop started by a former school teacher. His wife makes the food and sweets. A basic dish that is reminiscent of the "today's cuisine" of the limited lunch plate, and you can enjoy various tastes little by little, and you will never get tired of it. Even if you only use it for coffee and cake, you can relax by looking at the greenery of the park through the window.

Only open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays

Cafe|Okyakuyashiki Gekshoro

The old and quaint building stands out in the castle town. The building, which served as a guest house for the Oka clan during the Edo period, is now used as a cafe. You can enjoy a cup of coffee while looking out at the dry landscape Japanese garden. Wi-Fi is also available, and it is quiet and recommended as a work place.

Cafe|Takeda Cafe

A cafe started by a current university student in Oita. We are doing interesting experiments such as giving a personality diagnosis and blending coffee that expresses that personality. The space where you DIY yourself is brushed up every time you visit, giving you energy. The food and sweets are also enriched, and I can't take my eyes off it in the future. It is also a place where you can meet young and energetic university students.

Japanese sweets shop|
Tajimaya Long-established Sabo Dandan

Inside a Japanese sweets shop that has been around since the Edo period, you can enjoy Japanese sweets, tea, and zenzai while gazing out at the courtyard. You will feel like you have slipped back in time. Not only Japanese sweets, but also somen noodles that can be eaten in the store are delicious with the soup stock. If you go with children, they often guide you to the tatami room in the back, where you can spend a relaxing time.
